Porterville College Basketball Player Andres Solis Arrested for Kidnapping and Rape

A Porterville College basketball player has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and rape, Visalia police said Tuesday.

About 5:15 p.m. Sunday, police received a sexual assault report and officers were sent to police headquarters to look into it.

The victim told police she has been sexually assaulted earlier in the day by Andres Solis, 19, at a home in the 2900 block of West Tyler Avenue. Detectives from the violent crimes unit took over the investigation and on Monday they arrested Solis without incident.

He was booked into the Tulare County Pretrial Facility on suspicion of rape, assault with intent to commit a sexual offense, assault causing great bodily injury, forced oral copulation and kidnapping, police said.

Solis is on the 2018-19 roster at Porterville College as a forward who is 6 feet 4 inches. He is listed as a freshman. He graduated from Redwood High in 2017.
